The two-beat lie
The check-raise performs weakness (the check invites a bet) then reveals strength (the raise punishes it). Out of position it's the strongest move in poker — you turn the aggressor's momentum into your pot. Use it with your big hands for value and your best draws as semi-bluffs; use it rarely enough that both stay believable.
