The family pot
Low-stakes live games limp: four players take cheap flops together, and the adjustments write themselves. With strong-but-dominated hands — ace-king, ace-queen, big pairs — raise BIG to isolate: five to six times the big blind or more through a field of limpers. Speculative hands travel the other way: small pairs and suited connectors gain value multiway while the price stays small — set-mining against four players pays. Top pair with a weak kicker is a pot-control hand in a family pot, not a three-street value hand. And when a limped pot checks to you, stab: everyone missed together, and the first brave bet often just scoops.
